FORMATIVE AREA
Facilities

Sotavento Experimental Wind Farm has a Formative Building that represents the three arms of a wind turbine. Inside the building, there are different specialized rooms.

FACILITIES/ INFORMATIVE CLASSROOM

This is a central space designed to provide information about renewable energies to all sectors of population. It is a multiple space that gives access to all the information concerning renewable energies from different points a view.
The operation of these energies is illustrated with different scale models and boards, making possible the comparation between renewable and conventional energies.

At the viewpoint, second floor of the classroom, we should observe the operation of photovoltaic panels of different technologies and the exemplifying of a little domestic instalation.

The technology of hydrogen occupies an important place in the informative classroom. Here, using a little oil battery, you would see how hydrogen and oxigygen make an electric engine work.

Finally, there are different sections of interest, being wind culture the common factor between them: wind-mythology, wind-library, wind-art, wind-schronology, the same way as a reference library with publications of interest related to the world of education, renewable energies and saving and energetic efficience.

FACILITIEs/ ENERGY WORKSHOP

Conceived as a result of the need for a more technical and advanced information area, this room has been designed to be used by Secondary School, Vocational Training and University students.

A "little" wind turbine shows the different components and the operation of modern turbines. The workshop is completed with different machine components and a mobile kit of valves, a newness in thermic solar saving.

FACILITIEs/ ENERGETIC EFFICIENCY ROOM

This room was designed to make today´s society aware of ther necessity of efficient energy consumption, being this the essential instrument of a sustainable development.

At this room, we show a real comparison between conventional lamps and low-energy lamps. The operation of different electrical household appliances show the existence of the "ghost consumption", the same as their category in the tables of Energetic efficiency stablished by the European Union.

Using an exercise bike, the visitor should confirm and test the effort needed in order to generate energy. Pedaling, the visitor should get energy enough to "feed" different electric machines of common use at our homes.
