The SOTAVENTO GALICIA FOUNDATION was established in 2005-5-11 as a foundation of Galician interest and was promoted by Sotavento Galicia, S.A. the only founder-protector.

The foundation aims are the following:

• Promoting, divulgation, formation, and debate of all aspects related to renewable energy.
• Promoting and fulfilment of projects, studies and other investigation and experimentation acts related not only to wind energy but also to renewable energy in general .
• Promote and divulge the importance of energy saving and efficiency in order to obtain sustainable development.
• Promote and divulge acts that combine energy development and its interaction with the natural environment.
• Any other kinds of acts that imply an improvement in the optimization and implantation of renewable energy in general and wind energy in particular.

The Foundation develops its activities in the installations of the Experimental Wind Farm Sotavento. These activities are centred in three areas:

The first act done by this Foundation and that caused general interest, was the Exhibition "The Quixote and the wind"
