GFS - Global Model
Initial and boundary conditions for model WRF are provided with GFS model (Global Forecast System) with a half-degree resolution (about 50 km) over the whole planet.
• WRF-ARW
Core ARW (Advanced Research WRF) of WRF model (Weather Research and Forecasting) is a non-hydrostatic numerical weather prediction model.
It is run twice a day in the high performance computer FinisTerrae at CESGA, producing numerical weather predictions up to 72 and 84 hours over Galicia.
WRF is run in three nested domains:
- A first one with 36 km resolution covering SW of Europe.
- A second one with 12 km resolutión covering the Iberian Peninsula.
- The last one with 4 km resolution over Galicia.
