One more year, Sotavento commemorates the World Environment Day, a UN Environment-led global event.

Each year this event revolves around a different theme to focus attention on a specific problem. The theme for the year 2018 is “Beat Plastic Pollution”, and is a call for individuals to take charge of their surroundings and realise the severity of using plastic in daily life.

Today, our activities tried to make participants aware that we can change our daily habits easily and effortlessly to reduce the use of disposable plastics that so negatively affect our environment.

For the sixth consecutive year, Sotavento joins the celebration of Global Wind Day, which takes place every year on June 15.

This year, we also take part in the EU Sustainable Energy Week 2015, celebrated between 15 and 19 June.

Este martes 2 de junio se celebró en Madrid la ceremonia de entrega de la primera edición de los Premios Think Blue organizados por Volkswagen.
Los premios, a los que concurrieron 72 candidatos, contaban con tres candidaturas diferenciadas para reconocer las mejores iniciativas en materia de investigación, innovación y trayectoria. La Fundación Sotavento Galicia, fue galardonada en la categoría de mejor trayectoria, en reconocimiento a un camino dedicado a la promoción de las energías renovables, de la eficiencia energética y de la movilidad sostenible.

Sotavento Galicia Foundation was awarded the “II Awards for Best Practices in Sustainable Mobility” convened by the Renault Foundation for Sustainable Mobility and the Club of Excellence in Sustainability. The awards also have support from the Biodiversity Foundation of the Spanish Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Environment.
