GFS - Global Model
The initial and boundary conditions for the WRF model are obtained from the GFS (Global Forecast System) model, which has a resolution of half a degree (approximately 50 km) for the entire planet.
- WRF-ARW
The ARW (Advanced Research WRF) core of the WRF (Weather Research and Forecasting) model is a non-hydrostatic numerical weather prediction model.
It is run twice daily on CESGA's FinisTerrae supercomputer to perform 72- and 84-hour numerical predictions applied to Galicia.
The WRF is run on three nested grids:
- One with 36 km resolution covering SW Europe.
- Another with 12 km resolution covering the Iberian Peninsula.
- Another with 4 km resolution centered on Galicia.
