Repowering

The Sotavento Wind Farm is located on the northern foothills of the Serra da Loba, on the boundary between the municipalities of Monfero (A Coruña) and Xermade (Lugo).

The modification of the Sotavento Wind Farm (partial repowering) is included in the Wind Development Area (WDA) called Sotavento, as delimited in the Wind Sector Plan, considering the strip parallel to it.

The wind farm boundary polygon, considering the proposed repowering, is defined by the following UTM coordinates:

The wind turbines to be newly built are located in the northern sector of the polygon, sited on a gentle, narrow ridge that descends to the northeast from Serrón do Lobo (700 m) towards Penedo das Abelleiras (677 m) and Monte dos Quince (665 m). The wind turbines to be dismantled are located in the north-central part of the polygon.

Plan or orthophoto showing the proposed wind installation.

Below, the location plan of the wind farm is attached, showing the location of the new wind turbines planned, the existing ones, and those to be removed as part of the planned works.

Below are the coordinates where the wind turbines to be dismantled are located, as well as their numbering within the installation so that they can be identified:

Total capacity of the proposed wind installation in MW, indicating three (3) decimal places.

The proposed repowering consists of removing six wind turbines, with varying unit capacities, representing a total capacity of 3.440 MW, and installing two new wind turbines with a unit capacity of 4.200 MW; therefore, the total capacity of the proposed wind installation is 8.400 MW.

Number and general identifying characteristics of the wind turbines that make up the proposed wind installation: unit capacity, technology, model, tower height, rotor diameter.
The proposed repowering consists of removing six wind turbines and installing two new wind turbines with the following characteristics:

  1. Wind turbine capacity: 4.200 MW
  2. Technology: horizontal axis and variable pitch
  3. Hub height: 131.4 m.
  4. Rotor diameter: 137 m.
  5. Blade tip height: up to 199.9 m.

Given price volatility and limited technology availability, with long delivery lead times, the specific model of the machine to be installed may vary in order to meet the defined schedule and carry out the works on time, choosing the option that offers the most suitable prices and delivery times.

The boundary point for evacuating the electricity production from the proposed wind installation is the Mourela substation of Unión Fenosa Distribución, located at the topographic coordinates 43.433929 N, 7.854247 W, with the grid voltage of the high-voltage line to that point being 132 kV.

Estimated annual electricity production, total (MWh) and per unit of capacity (MWh/MW), for the proposed wind installation at the boundary point with the public distribution or transmission grid, or with the internal private grid. Likewise, the actual annual electricity production for the last complete financial year, total (MWh) and per unit of capacity (MWh/MW), of the existing wind installation to be dismantled in whole or in part, shall be indicated.
